Did you know that 52% of people who click on PPC ads will follow up by calling the advertiser?

Pay-Per-Click has been a hot topic throughout the year of 2016, with more and more small businesses turning to PPC as a way of generating more leads, traffic and sales.

Getting one step ahead of your competition is key and one way to do this, is to understand the Pay-Per-Click trends for 2017 and beyond, so that you can prepare to take 2017 by storm.

Trend #1: Video Advertising

Video marketing in general has been a huge talking point of 2016, and video advertising will become the new norm as we look at 2017 and beyond. This will give small businesses an amazing opportunity to connect with customers on a more personal, interactive level.

Trend #2: Lookalike Audiences

This is something I have been testing throughout the second half of 2016. A lookalike audience is based on a shared common interest in a particular topic with your current audience you market to. This will become a key focus for PPC when it comes to increasing conversion rates through 2017 and beyond.

Trend #3: Remarketing Will Be Even More Important

Remarketing is where you create an ad that in essence, follows someone around the internet wherever they go. The more a potential customer becomes familiar with your business, the more likely they are to purchase from you.

Trend #4: Google Shopping Campaign Will Continue To Grow

Google are always adding new features to their shopping campaign option and this will continue throughout 2017. You can add prices and ratings to your adverts, as well as location based options which will be an important part of PPC marketing for businesses.

Trend #5: Live Data In Paid Ads

The last few months has seen the introduction of an ad that displays real-time data including product availability, inventory, dates and times. Live data is a huge trend for 2017 so expect this to be a big part of PPC.

Trend #6: Database Marketing

How often do you take your database out of your email marketing software and directly market to just them, and a lookalike audience? I have found this to be extremely effective with my audience and 2017 will be the year for other business owners to take advantage of database marketing.

Trend #7: More Character For Text Advertisement

Google have recently expanded their text allowance on advertisements on all devices. This, in 2017 will be a huge development for small businesses, looking at ways to better, and more effectively describe their business. Expanded text ads will double the size of PPC ads on Adwords.

What do you think will be the Pay-Per-Click trends for 2017?
